Strengths and Weaknesses
England Netball does not really get involved with the Athletes ability until the participant has reached the performance level where there scouts are situated. At this point they can focus solely on the athletes who have succeeded and have definiate potential and do not waste a lot of time or funding on some who may never make it to the Excellence stage. However this means that it is up to the participants schools and clubs to aid them in progression up to that point. If a school is not 'Netball orrientated' and does not offer after school clubs then the participant cannot really discover their passion for the sport and therefore their potential is lost.
Similarities and Differences
England Netball is similiar to the Sainsburys school games programme as they both rely heavily on school participation in order to get potential participants into sports. However England Netball is more specific as they only cater to one sport and to a small group of people.
It is also similar to the Satellite clubs as they also do not get involved with participants until later on in the continuum, however unlike the Satellite clubs England Netball does offer a Excellence stage.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Sainsburys School Games is involved with sporting participants from the foundation stage- this means that they can get people involved in sporting activities from an early age and encourage them to stay active. The Sainsburys School games allows those who may not have the chance or avaliabilty to partake in sporting clubs to compete for the sport of their preferences- allowing more people the oppurtunity to succeed. However SSG has a very wide target bases and has to sprend their resources and funding across a lot of schools and participants- meaning that they may not be able to always provide the best quality of equipment/coaching.
Similarities and Differences
Sainsburys School Games is similar to England Netball as they both offer and excellence level- unlike the satellite clubs. However Like the satellite clubs Sainsburys School Games do not focus on a specific sport and have a larger group of participants.
Strengths and Weakness
The Satellite clubs gives those who do not want to excell in a sporting activity the oppurtunity to continue it for life. It allows those who have developed and interest or passion towards a sport the chance to participate without demanding excellence from them. However Satellite clubs rely heavily on the participant wanting anc choosing themselves to partake in their own time- meaning that they may not get as mant participants due to lack of motivation. Satellite clubs dont really offer the oppurtunity for a participant to develop to the excellence stage and therefore cannot cater to those who are more progressed.
Similarties and Differences
The Satellite club is similar to England Netball as they both rely on the participant wanting and taking there own time and effort to partake in their sport at some point. However like the sainsburys school games it is not as specific in its sport like England Netball
